Ambassador of Nepal to the State of Qatar Dr Narad Nath Bharadwaj handed over a gift offered by President Bidya Devi Bhandari to the National Museum of Qatar. The gift was handed over to Ahmad Musa Al-Namla, the CEO of the Qatar Museum, amidst a function on 2 January, Thursday.
The gift (Nepali carpet) was specially made by Nepali craftsmen in Kathmandu at the instruction of President with a view to display it at the Qatari museum as an artistic creation of the Nepali handicraft industry, the Embassy of Nepal in Doha said. The carpet presented to the museum by the President of Nepal represents the Nepali indigenous craftsmanship and the history of Nepalese heritage. The carpet was entirely handmade and hand-knotted with the finest Tibetan wool and the silk yarns with the pattern of rhododendron flower blossoms, the national flower of Nepal.
President Bhandari had an idea of gifting the carpet to the museum during her state visit to Qatar in October 2018. President Bhandari had visited the Museum of Islamic Art as a great regard for the culture and heritage of the Qatari Society.
