Gyalpo Lhosar being celebrated by Sherpa community
“The festival is divided into 12 years. For almost two weeks, they observe the year of mouse, cow, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, bird, dog and pig. Sunday was pig year. And, mouse year starts from today,” said Tika Sherpa, Sherpa culture researcher.
In previous years people from 12 mountainous districts used to celebrate this festival. However, these days around 22 districts celebrate this day.
