Learn from glorious history and culture: PM Oli
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the new generation should know about nation’s history of glorious civilisation and cultures.
Addressing the 70th Democracy Day Main Organising Committee meeting on Tuesday, PM Oli said that democracy ensures a civilised society responsible for current time and future days. He urged one and all to duly respect and preserve positive sides of our civilisation. Recalling the leadership of Prithivi Narayan Shah in Nepal unification, he appreciated the untiring efforts of Nepalis at that time.
“During the time, Kalu Pandey was chopped off and his son Damodar Pandey too. Likewise, Bhimsen Thapa was killed by slitting his throat and his father Amar Singh Thapa was lost being stranded,” he said. Asking all not to neglect all these, PM Oli said, “We are the descendants of scholars and brave ancestors. So, let’s learn to be proud of our history.”
PM Oli also wished for the Dipawali in every house on Democracy Day. According to him, 2007 BS is not just a date but a special moment of social change. “This ushered Nepal to the modern-day from a dark age,” he said.
